Hanns Kobinger

Hanns Kobinger (born July 26, 1892 , † January 25, 1974 ) was an Austrian painter and graphic artist .

He was born the third of five children and spent his childhood, youth and professional career as a bank clerk in Upper Austria. State mortgage institution in Linz. A serious accident ended his civil service career in 1928. Kobinger was artistically interested already during his school years, initially visited the 1920s, the art school of Matthias May and met monthly in the Club Grille with other young artists under the leadership of Franz Kuhn .

In 1921 he became a member of the artists' association MAERZ and took part in their collective exhibitions between 1926 and 1931. From 1946 he took part in exhibitions at home and abroad. a. in Stockholm, Minneapolis and Minnesota. He was also a member of the Vienna Secession .

After his recovery he spent several years abroad and in 1935 moved with his second wife Eva Kirstein - Josupeit to Grundlsee , where he lived and worked until shortly before his death, which is why he was also referred to as a painter from Grundlsee. He died in Gramastetten and is buried in Grundlsee.

The New Gallery of the City of Linz (Lentos Art Museum) has numerous of his works in its inventory.

His work includes watercolors, pen and ink drawings, linocuts and, above all, prints. Auguste Kronheim was his student.
