The Ellbach and Kirchseemoor has been a nature reserve since 1940 and an FFH area since 1998 in the Upper Bavarian district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen and the district of Miesbach . The nature reserve with the number NSG-00030.01 is located in the area of ​​the city of Bad Tölz and the municipality of Sachsenkam and has an area of ​​797.54 hectares. They are part of the Tölzer Moor Axis .

The Ellbachmoor is considered a particularly valuable area for butterflies .

On the northern edge of the nature reserve lies the Kirchsee , which has been registered as an EU bathing water since 2008 . In winter, the area between Reutberg Abbey and Bad Tölz can be crossed on a cross-country ski trail .

In 1998, Natura 2000 , the network of protected areas of the European Union, granted the area under the same name, but significantly expanded, the protection status of an FFH area. The communities of Dietramszell and Sachsenkam , the city of Bad Tölz and Markt Holzkirchen have shares in this protection zone .
