Hanns Verres

Hanns Verres (born February 6, 1928 in Berlin ; † June 19, 2003 in Oberursel ) was a German radio journalist who was best known as a radio presenter .

Life

Verres first studied acting at the Hanover University of Music and Theater . But from 1952 he decided to pursue a radio career. In 1952 he started at Radio Bremen as a speaker, voice actor, author and assistant director (later director). From 1954 onwards he worked for 16 years as a freelance writer, director and producer at Saarländischer Rundfunk , Süddeutscher Rundfunk , Radio Luxemburg and, above all, Hessischer Rundfunk . There he created and moderated the successful radio programs Frankfurter Schlagerbörse , Frankfurter Schlager ABC, Detention after Notes (a program for school classes) and Mister Thursday , which had a wide range of music programs from hits to beat music . 777 broadcasts went over the airwaves from 1957 to 1973. In addition, he continued to work as a speaker for radio play productions.

In the 1960s, Verres developed a special feel for new talent. He made the local Schrecksbacher beat band The Petards known beyond Hessen and in 1971 brought the radio presenter Werner Reinke from Radio Bremen to the Hessischer Rundfunk. From 1973 onwards, Reinke presented the follow-up program to the “Schlagerbörse”, the Hitparade International . From 1971 to 1973 Verres commented on the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson Europeenne . In 1970, Verres became head of the "Word Entertainment" department and in 1973 head of the "Radio Entertainment" department at Hessischer Rundfunk. In the years that followed, he played a key role in developing the then still young traffic broadcaster hr3 into a pop music broadcaster. In the 1980s he contributed to the creation of the Schlagerwelle hr4 . He also moderated the public appearances of the hr big band . In 1988 he took over the management of hr advertising before retiring in 1992.

Hanns Verres died on June 19, 2003 at the age of 75.
