The Hanomag 3/16 PS Type P is a small car that the Hanover-based company Hanomag presented in 1929 as the successor to the 2/10 PS type (commissary bread) .
Under the now normal front hood was a 751 cc four-cylinder engine with 16 hp. The rear wheels were driven via a blocked three-speed gearbox, still without a differential. The body consisted of hardwood frames clad with sheet steel. Initially only sold as a neat convertible with a jump seat, the sedan was added in late 1929.
In the middle of 1930, the Hanomag 3/16 HP Type 53 replaced its predecessor with an engine enlarged to 797 cm³, but still delivering 16 HP. In contrast to its predecessors, this car had a differential. It was available as a convertible, convertible sedan or sedan.
Also in 1930, the Hanomag 4/20 PS Type 63 appeared in the same body, but with an even more powerful engine (1097 cm³, 20 hp) . Of this car there was only one sedan and one convertible sedan.
Of all three types together, 9,300 vehicles were produced. In 1931 they were replaced by the 3/17 PS and 4/23 PS models .
