Hans-A-Plast is a punk band from Hanover that was founded in 1978 by Jens Meyer (guitar), Micha Polten (guitar), Renate Baumgart (bass) and Bettina Schröder (drums). A little later, Annette Benjamin joined the formation, which was to shape the group with her singing. With their sound inspired by Britpunk and the lyrics that are partly reminiscent of Nina Hagen , Hans-A-Plast quickly became one of the most successful German punk groups.

history

In 1979 the group released their own debut album , which contained some of the first German punk classics with titles such as Rock 'n' Roll Freitag , Amerika and Es brennt ( What to do when it burns ... ). Without a promotion, the album sold over 20,000 times and, alongside AmokKoma von Abwärts, was one of the most successful early German punk albums. The group also addressed people outside of the punk scene with feminist titles like Für 'ne Frau or Gau ab, du stinkst . Due to its success, the group has been accused by some punks of being "commercial and established".

After a long break, the album Ausradiert followed , which contained songs such as Black & White , Loreley , Sacco di Roma or the title track. In addition, a self-produced video for the title Monster Dance was shown on the television program Formula One . After Annette Benjamin married and left the band, Hans-A-Plast broke up. In 1988, in addition to a CD compilation by Hans-A-Plast, a solo LP by drummer Bettina Schröder was released. She is the only one who is still musically active today with a heart in thirds . In 2005 the Hans-A-Plast LPs were re-released remastered on CD, and a reprint of the first LP is also in great demand in punk circles.

Hans-A-Plast singer Annette Benjamin re-recorded the Hans-A-Plast song Monstertanz in 2005 with the German death rock band Bloody Dead and Sexy . The song was released on the limited version of the Bloody Dead and Sexy album Narcotic Room .
