The Hans Czermak Prize is a prize awarded by the Association of Viennese People's Education in cooperation with the City of Vienna , the Generali Group Austria and the ORF . It is awarded in memory of the pediatrician and university professor Hans Czermak , who campaigned for a humane and non-violent upbringing of children.

Guiding principles and the price

Czermak's guiding principles were:

  • “Every child has the right to a happy childhood” and
  • "The use of violence and the infliction of physical or emotional suffering (in raising children) are not permitted".

The Hans Czermak Prize has been awarded every two years since 1999, with prizes being awarded primarily to projects that focus on bringing up children without violence in the sense of Czermak. The prizes are endowed with € 2,200. Special prizes are also awarded for special services.
