Friedrich Ch. Zauner (born September 19, 1936 in Rainbach im Innkreis ) is an Austrian writer .

Life

Zauner has lived and worked as a freelance writer in Rainbach (Innkreis) since 1965 and is considered one of the most important contemporary Austrian authors . In his great romantic tale “The End of Eternity” he treats the great social upheaval that ushered in a turning point in the middle of the last century from the perspective of a small Innviertel village. The German weekly newspaper Die Zeit describes the novel as one of the most important works of contemporary literature.

In addition, Zauner is also successful as a dramatist , his plays were premiered at the Landestheater Linz , the Schauspielhaus Graz , the Landestheater Salzburg , the Volkstheater Vienna , as well as on various German and Swiss theaters. They are re-enacted and successfully performed in translations in numerous foreign-language theaters. For example, "Spuk", for the first time at the Landestheater Linz, was played en suite in the Spanish translation by the Teatro Granero in Mexico City for over two years .

A particularly ambitious project are the Rainbach Gospel Games, which began extremely successfully in 2004 with the piece “Passion”. Friedrich Ch. Zauner is President of Upper Austria. PEN clubs, winner of the state culture award for literature and honorary citizen of his home community Rainbach.
