The southern trefoil ( Gillenia stipulata ) is a species of the genus Gillenia .
features
The southern three-leaf spar is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 40 to 100 centimeters. The upper and lower stem leaves are different. In the upper ones the leaflets are serrated, in the lower ones, on the other hand, they are often pinnately or partially split. There are glands on the underside of the leaves. The 10 to 30 millimeter long stipules are persistent, leaf-like, ovate-lanceolate to almost round and sawed on the edge. The petals are 10 to 13 millimeters long and mostly white.
The flowering time is in July and August.
Occurrence
The southern three-leaf spar occurs in the east and southeast of the USA in dry to moist, open mountain forests, bushes and rocky slopes.
