Hans-Eckart Scharrer

Hans-Eckart Scharrer (born March 27, 1938 in Hamburg ) is a German economist .

Life

After graduating from high school and training as an industrial clerk , he studied economics from 1960 to 1965 at the University of Hamburg (1965 diploma in economics) and Northwestern University (1963 Master of Arts ). After receiving his doctorate in 1969 as a Dr. rer. pole. he worked for three years as a research assistant at the Institute for Banking Management at the University of Hamburg (Director: Helmut Lipfert ). He came to the HWWA in 1968 , first as head of the International Monetary Policy department and then as head of the department for economic and financial relations between industrialized countries. He has been Vice President of the HWWA since 1994 and two years later was entrusted with the management of the institute on an interim basis until a successor was found for President Erhard Kantzenbach , who has since retired .

He has lectureships at the University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg and at the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg .
