Hans-Günter Heimbrock

Hans-Günter Heimbrock (born May 11, 1948 in Bochum ) is a German Protestant theologian and emeritus professor for practical theology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Life

After graduating from high school in Duisburg, Hans-Günter Heimbrock studied Protestant theology, education, psychology and sociology at the universities of Duisburg, Wuppertal and Bonn. He did the practical preparatory service for teaching in 1972/1973 at the primary school in Siegburg-Stallberg. In 1976 he received his doctorate with the theme of fantasy and Christian faith at the Comprehensive University of Duisburg Dr. ped., his PhD supervisors were Adam Weyer and Joachim Scharfenberg .

From 1976 to 1982 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Education in Neuss and at the University of Cologne . The habilitation in the subject practical theology took place in 1980 with the subject of the salvation of the soul. Studies on the relationship between religion and psychology with Baruch Spinoza .

After academic work in Cologne, Oldenburg and Duisburg, Heimbrock was appointed to the chair of religious psychology at the theological faculty in Groningen / NL in 1990. There he taught for three years. Since 1990 Heimbrock has been professor for practical theology at the theological department of the Goethe University in Frankfurt. Since 2000 he has been a regular ERASMUS visiting professor at the Universities of Oslo, Stavanger and Trondheim, Norway and Lund, Sweden. On October 1, 2013, he was retired.
