Hans-Günther Dotzauer

Hans-Günther Dotzauer , also Hans-Günther Müller-Dotzauer (* 1953 in Bonn as Hans-Günther Müller ) is a German opera, operetta and musical singer ( tenor ).

Life

Before starting his musical career, Hans-Günther Dotzauer trained as a chef and pastry chef, and his parents ran a restaurant.

He received his vocal training at the Berlin University of the Arts , followed by master classes with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf . While still a student he sang at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and at the Theater des Westens . Guest contracts have taken him to the opera stages in Augsburg, Trieste, Bologna, Stuttgart, Wiesbaden and the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz .

Hans-Günther Dotzauer has been a permanent member of the ensemble at Theater Ulm since 1985 . There he played the major roles of the tenor buffo, such as Pedrillo in Die Entführung aus dem Serail . In the meantime he has participated in countless operas, operettas and musicals (in larger and smaller roles) in the city on the Danube. The repertoire of roles of the artist named Kammersänger includes the title roles in Idomeneo , Hoffmanns Erzählungen , Der Zwerg and Peter Grimes , Arnalta in L'incoronazione di Poppea , Herodes in Salome , Abdallo in Nabucco , Count Danilo in The Merry Widow , Macduff in Macbeth , Herodes in Jesus Christ Superstar , Spoletta in Tosca , Stanislaus in The Bird Trader , Albazar in Il turco in Italia , Gabriel von Einstein in Die Fledermaus , Cecco in Il mondo della luna and Hermann in Pique Dame .

In addition to his stage presence, Hans-Günther Dotzauer works as a song, oratorio and concert singer. In 2001 he was awarded the honorary title of Baden-Württemberg Chamber Singer.

In 2018 the artist retired after 32 seasons at the Ulm Theater.
