career

The goalscorer of 1. FC Viersen , with whom he played in the then third-class Niederrhein Association League, started his professional career at SG Union Solingen in the 2nd Bundesliga for the 1976/77 round . Under the direction of coach Norbert Wagner (until 11/1976), Hermann Eppenhoff (11 / 76–3 / 77) and the duo Frank Herbeling / Otto Luttrop (3 / 77–6 / 77) the newcomer completed 24 second division games and scored the side of Dirk Hupe , striker Mileta Rnić and the player-coach "Atom-Otto" Luttrop six goals. Union Solingen only stayed in the league because Göttingen 05 and Wacker 04 decided not to move up instead of the Bonner SC. In his second Solingen second division round, Plücken developed under the new coach Horst Franz and Werner Lenz into one of the most dangerous striker duos in the second division north. Plücken scored 16 goals in 33 games and Lenz 19 goals in 38 games. The team from the stadium on Hermann-Löns-Weg finished ninth in 1977/78. In 1978 Hamburger SV brought him into the Bundesliga . There Plücken was German champion in 1979 with seven missions and one goal, but he was a reservist. In the second round of HSV, 1979/80, ten more missions were added with one goal, but he was loaned to Hertha BSC for the second half , where he came to 17 games with one goal. But even after his return to HSV he was hardly ever used and left the club during the 1980/81 round for Bayer 05 Uerdingen , where he played nine more games in the Bundesliga and scored one goal. After the 1981/82 season (seven games - one goal) in the Grotenburg Stadium in the 2nd Bundesliga, he ended his professional career.

Hans-Günther Plücken made 43 first division and 64 second division games between 1976 and 1982.

In later years he coached some amateur clubs, u. a. Germania Geistenbeck , 1. FC Mönchengladbach and TuS Grevenbroich .
