Hans-Georg Grossmann

Robert Hans-Georg Großmann (born February 11, 1901 in Potsdam ; † December 1, 1976 ) was a German gynecologist and trade unionist . He was chairman of the health care union in the FDGB .

Life

Großmann, the son of an employee, attended elementary school and high school . From 1919 to 1925 he studied medicine. In 1925 he obtained his license to practice medicine and obtained his doctorate as Dr. med. From 1929 he worked as a specialist in gynecological diseases and obstetrics. During the Nazi era he was discriminated against for racial reasons. He worked as a doctor in Suhl and Berlin .

In 1946 he became a member of the SPD , then the SED . He worked as the medical director of the Brandenburg an der Havel district hospital and was the chief physician of the women's clinic. In 1951/52 he was a member of the SED district leadership in Brandenburg . From September 1961 to March 1968, Grossmann served as the first chairman of the central board of the health care union in the FDGB.
