Hans-Georg Leyser

Hans-Georg Leyser (born June 16, 1896 in Worin in the Lebus district , † April 18, 1980 in Hanover ) was a German officer , most recently major general in World War II .

Life

Leyser served as an officer in the First World War .

After the end of the war he was accepted into the Reichswehr and served in various associations.

In the Wehrmacht he led the 29th Infantry Division (motorized) as commander in World War II . He was one of the fifty German generals who, in Soviet captivity, signed the appeal "To the people and the Wehrmacht" on December 8, 1944, calling on the German population and army to separate from the Nazi leadership and to end the war.
