Hans-Georg Ullrich

Hans-Georg Ullrich (* 1942 in Magdeburg ) is a German filmmaker and cameraman .

Life

Ullrich moved to West Berlin shortly before the Wall was built in 1961. There he attended the technical college for photography and worked as an assistant at the US television company CBS . He made a film for the German pavilion at the World Exhibition in Osaka in 1969, several industrial films , including one that won an award at the Paris Industrial Festival in 1970.

Ullrich has been working with Detlef Gumm since 1972. The two made their first children's films for the “ Sendung mit der Maus ” (WDR). The series “Everyday Life - Pictures on the Go” from WDR followed. Känguruh Film GmbH, founded in 1973, mainly produces documentary films. Hans-Georg Ullrich's films are about everyday stories. The focus is on the "little people". The documentaries tell about people of our time at eye level. A milestone in the documentary work of Hans-Georg Ullrich and Detlef Gumm is the long-term observation “ Berlin - corner of Bundesplatz ” (1986–2012). This major project documents people and their lives on the Bundesplatz in Berlin. In 2013 it was awarded the German Television Prize for “Special Achievements”. The documentary filmmaker and cameraman Hans-Georg Ullrich has made around 120 productions since 1972. He lives in Berlin-Wilmersdorf .
