Hans-Georg Wiedemann

Hans-Georg Wiedemann (born July 29, 1936 in Berlin ; † January 11, 2015 ) was a German Protestant theologian , sex counselor and author.

Life

Hans-Georg Wiedemann studied law and theology at the University of Göttingen . He later completed additional training as a sex counselor. From 1973 until his retirement in 2001 he was parish priest at the Markuskirche in Düsseldorf-Vennhausen . He was a lecturer in practical theology in Bonn (around 1982), lecturer in sexual ethics (around 1997), synodal representative for homosexuals in the Düsseldorf-Ost church district, and was a member of the board of directors of the pastoral care in Düsseldorf.

After his retirement he was the scientific director of the International Society for Depth Psychology , worked as a relationship and life counselor in the Evangelical Counseling Center in Düsseldorf in the chat pastoral care of the Evangelical Church, as well as in the men's work of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). He led sexuality groups as well as men's groups, including the support group for parents of gay-loving children .

His book Homosexual Love. For a reorientation in Christian ethics is considered a standard work in the Protestant Church. It is based on a survey of homosexual people. Through this he is also the initiator of the discussion on this topic in the Rheinische Landeskirche . The book gay. The book for homosexual lovers, their relatives and their opponents is like a new edition of homosexual love . It is completely reorganized and, according to some opinions, therefore more readable. Other works are thematically in the area of ​​the men's movement or the emancipation of men and retirement .

His friend, the political cabaret artist Peter Thomas Heydrich , was the nephew and godchild of SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich . After Heydrich's death, Wiedemann put together the book “I was the Crown Prince von Heydrich” from tapes of conversations.

His wife Hildegard was at times councilor for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Düsseldorf. They had four sons together.
