Hans-Gerd Schütt

Hans-Gerd Schütt (born June 12, 1958 in Schleiden ) is a Catholic priest as well as a sports and Olympic pastor.

Abitur and studies

In 1977 Schütt passed the Abitur at the municipal high school in Schleiden. He then completed basic military service . From 1978 to 1986 he studied Catholic theology and biology at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn . Before his career as a chaplain and priest, Schütt worked as a school and bus driver. Since 1981 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Ripuaria Bonn .

Career as chaplain and pastor

From 1986 to 1987 Schütt was a seminarist in the Aachen seminary , and on September 19, 1987 he was ordained a priest by Bishop Klaus Hemmerle in Aachen Cathedral. From 1987 to 1992 he was chaplain in the churches of St. Laurentius and St. Michael in Mönchengladbach - Odenkirchen . From 1992 to 1995 he was school chaplain at the Episcopal Maria Montessori Comprehensive School in Krefeld and subsidiar in the parish of St. Cyriakus in Krefeld-Hüls . From 1995 to 2002 he was pastor in the churches of St. Clemens in Viersen-Süchteln and St. Franziskus in Süchteln-Vorst. Sporting commitment

Schütt has been a member of the DJK Diocesan Advisory Board in the Aachen Diocesan Association since 1990 . From 1992 to 1996 he was the Deputy Federal Advisory Council of the DJK Sports Association. Since 1996 he has been a member of the Federal Advisory Board of the DJK Sports Association. Since November 1999 he has been the deputy chairman of the plenary assembly of the “Church and Sport” working group of the Catholic Church in Germany . In May 2000 he became a member of the Contact Commission “Church and Sport”. On January 1st, 2003 he was appointed sports representative of the German Bishops' Conference . As an Olympic pastor, Schütt praised Federal President Horst Köhler's participation in the Paralympics in a lengthy conversation and showed continued interest. Schütt traveled to Athens in 2004 , Turin in 2006 , Beijing 2008 , Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 with the German sports team at the Olympic Games as a pastor and pastor.
