Hans-Jürgen Feulner

Hans-Jürgen Feulner (born February 22, 1965 in Kronach ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Hans-Jürgen Feulner, who grew up in Steinwiesen in Upper Franconia , first studied physics at the Technical University of Munich from 1984 and switched to the subjects of Catholic theology , philosophy and oriental studies at the LMU Munich in 1986 ; In 1992 he graduated with a licentiate (lic. Theol.) In theology (“The Anglican Ordinale”). After working as a research assistant at the Institute of Liturgical Studies of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , he was in 1998 with the thesis "The Armenian Athanasius-anaphora" to Dr. theol. PhD. From 1998 to 2002 he was a research assistant at the chair for liturgical science at the University of Tübingen.

In 2002 he was offered the professorship for liturgical science and sacramental theology at the University of Vienna . He is deputy director of the Institute for Historical Theology of the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna .

Feulner is considered an expert in the field of the Anglican ordination liturgies and was appointed by the Liturgical Commission of the Church of England as an extraordinary collaborator and assessor of the newly created ordination rites. He is a member of the pastoral-theological-practical working group of the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese.

Awards and honors

  • 1998 - International first prize in liturgical science on the occasion of the Comparative Liturgy Fifty Years after Anton Baumstark congress in Rome
  • 1999 - Alexander Böhlig Prize for the dissertation on Dr. theol.
  • 2015 - Awarded by Pope Francis with the Order of St. Gregory the Great (Knight) for "his great services to the reconciliation of the Anglicans who have returned to the Catholic Church".
