Hans-Jürgen Hermisson

Hans-Jürgen Hermisson (born May 17, 1933 in Falkenstein , Friedeberg Nm. ) Is a German Protestant theologian and university professor .

Life

Hans-Jürgen Hermisson was born as the son of the pastor Karl-Friedrich Hermisson and his wife Gertrud Hermisson, née Lüder. His father was deployed on the Eastern Front in Stalingrad during World War II and has been missing since January 1943.

Hermisson received his doctorate in 1962 on the spiritualization of cult terms in the Old Testament at the church college in Berlin-Zehlendorf . In February 1967 he completed his habilitation at the theological faculty of Heidelberg University , where he then worked as a university lecturer and adjunct professor for the Old Testament.

From 1977 to 1982 Hermisson was a full professor of Old Testament professor Theological Evangelical on the faculty of the University of Bonn . From 1982 to 1998 he was Herbert Donner's successor at the University of Tübingen .

He wrote numerous non-fiction books. The focus of his exegetical work was primarily on the books of the prophets, especially the Jeremiah - and above all the book of Deutero-Isaiah .
