Athletic career

As a 19-year-old Hans-Jürgen Pretzsch won the soccer district cup in 1970 with the 2nd team of the Betriebsportgemeinschaft (BSG) Chemie Leipzig and celebrated promotion to the second-rate GDR league with the team . With the promotion team, he played 18 of the 30 league games played in 1970/71 and scored three goals. With the league team he completed two games as a substitute in the first half of the season. When two regular league strikers failed in the second half of the season, Pretzsch was a striker in the starting eleven in five point games. With two more substitute missions, he came to nine point games in his first league season. The 1st team was relegated at the end of the season, and Pretzsch used the GDR league season to establish itself in the 1st team in the expanded player base. In his 16 appearances in 20 point games, he was called up 16 times, but only played seven games over the full duration. He was also used five times in five of the eight promotion games in which chemistry managed to return to the league. Both in the point games and in the promotion round, he was successful with one goal. In the 1972/73 season Pretzsch was no longer part of the regular squad of the league team. With her he only played four point games as a substitute. The rest of the time he played with the 2nd team in the third class district league . After the end of the season, Pretzsch moved to the BSG activist Espenhain , which was also a district division. In 1975 he rose with her to the GDR league and spent six seasons there with the BSG activist as a regular. Of the 132 league games played during this time, Pretzsch played 121 matches, scoring each season with a total of 17 goals. After Espenhain had to relegate to the district league in 1981, he played there until 1989. In 1983 he won the district cup with the BSG activist, which qualified for the GDR-wide FDGB cup competition 1983/84 . Even after his time as a football player, he remained connected to football in Espenhain . The BSG activist was later converted into the FSV Kitzscher, and between 2007 and 2011 Pretzsch took over the training of the footballers who played in the district class.
