Hans-Jürgen Rückborn (born October 8, 1940 in Stendal ) is a former German athlete and Olympian who - starting for the GDR - was a successful triple jumper in the 1960s . His greatest success came at the European Athletics Championships in 1966 with the silver medal (invalid - 16.66 m - 16.10 - invalid - 16.32 - 16.32). His gap to the Bulgarian Georgi Stojkowski was one centimeter. Rückborn was the first German triple jumper to win a medal at an international highlight.

He also started in the joint German teams at the European Athletics Championships in 1962 (15.11 m, ninth place) and at the Olympic Games in 1964 (16.09 m, eighth place). In 1965 Hans-Jürgen Rückborn won the European Athletics Cup in Stuttgart - 16.51 m - ahead of world record holder Józef Szmidt (Poland).

Rückborn won a total of six GDR championship titles. In 1961, 1963, 1965 and 1967 he won outdoors, in 1966 and 1967 he was indoor champion. He belonged to the ASK Potsdam . During his competition time he was 1.90 m tall and weighed 78 kg.
