Karl-Heinz "Kuddel" Goldau (born January 21, 1941 in Cologne ) is a former German football player . The defensive player played a Bundesliga game as an amateur at 1. FC Köln in the 1969/70 season .

career

Goldau, who grew up in the Cologne Höhenhaus on the right bank of the Rhine , was an ardent supporter of Prussia Dellbrück in his youth . He learned the physically demanding profession of boiler builder and did not join his first club, Adler Dellbrück, until his 18th birthday. From the 1960/61 season onwards, the player, who quickly became the center of the world championship system at the time , played at TuS Höhenhaus . With Höhenhaus, Goldau rose to the Mittelrhein Association League in 1966/67 and took 12th place with the promoted 1967/68 . For the 1968/69 season he was recruited by Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln for the amateur team and consciously remained an amateur. Even with the FC amateurs, the Libero developed into a service provider and was the captain of the selection team of the Mittelrhein Football Association . In his first round at the FC amateurs was his trainer George Stollenwerk , starting from the season 1969/70 took Gero Bisanz the amateurs of the Billy Goats . With the runner-up in 1970/71 Goldau achieved the best placement, in 1972 and 1973 he and his team took 3rd place. During his active time with the FC amateurs, several players were included in the professional squad: Bernd Cullmann , Werner Thelen , Hans-Jürgen Lex , Kurt Kowalski , Heinz-Dieter Schmitz , Paul Scheermann , Herbert Mühlenberg , Winfried Berkemeier and Rainer Nicot . Goldau was active with the amateur team of 1. FC Köln up to and including the 1973/74 season .

He made his professional debut on July 29, 1969 in a friendly against the traditional English club West Ham United with Bobby Moore . He scored the goal to make it 4-1. Goldau was included in the statistics of the Bundesliga with just a single use. He was used under the then coach Hans Merkle when he played in the penultimate game of the season at 1. FC Kaiserslautern , which was lost 3-2, in front of goalkeeper Manfred Manglitz as right full-back at the side of Wolfgang Weber , Werner Biskup , Matthias Hemmersbach and Heinz Simmet was one of the starting XI on the Betzenberg. In addition to the high quality of the athletic competition in the FC licensed squad , there was also the problem that Goldau could not get along with team captain Wolfgang Overath . It went so far that he finally asked FC President Oskar Maaß not to be nominated for the professionals anymore. In May 1970, however, he was with the professional squad on the trip to Israel and Persia, as Overath was unable to participate in the World Cup in Mexico. There were games against clubs from Haifa and Tel Aviv as well as against Maccabi Netanja , PAS Teheran FC and Touch Peykan Tehran .

After the end of his playing career, he worked for the amateurs until 1981 as a "girl for everything" without holding an official position. He had a friendly relationship with the legendary FC amateur boss Karl-Heinz "King" Schäfer. In later years, the trained boiler maker worked as a draftsman in the field of mechanical engineering / steel construction and retired at the age of 60. He lives in his own home in the Höhenhaus district of Cologne and practices fishing in the nearby Bergisches Land as a hobby .
