Hans-Jürgen Thies (born August 11, 1955 in Celle ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

Life and work

Hans-Jürgen Thies grew up in Wietze and was a contract soldier for two years after graduating from high school. He then began studying law at the University of Göttingen .

In Göttingen he became a member of the VDSt Göttingen. After completing a legal internship at the Higher Regional Court of Celle , he worked as a singularly licensed lawyer at the Hamm Higher Regional Court until 2002 , then as a specialist lawyer for family law with a focus on agricultural and real estate law ; From 1985 to 2019 he was a partner in a law firm in Hamm . He has written specialist legal books and articles.

He was an honorary legal advisor from 2000 to 2016 and has been Vice President of the State Hunting Association of North Rhine-Westphalia since 2016 ; He is also a board member of the Wildlife and Biotope Conservation Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia, a member of the German Lawyers' Association , the German Society for Agricultural Law and the German Hunting Rights Day. V. From 2016 to 2017 he was a member of the WDR - Broadcasting Council .

Political career

Hans-Jürgen Thies joined the CDU and the Junge Union in 1971 . From 1973 to 1976 he was or is district chairman of the Junge Union in the Celle district association and a member of the CDU district board in Celle, from 1992 to 1998 a member of the CDU district board in Hamm and since 2017 in Soest.

He was directly elected to the 19th German Bundestag in constituency 146 ( Soest ) . He is a full member of the Committee on Food and Agriculture and the Committee on Legal Affairs and Consumer Protection . He is also a deputy member of the Committee on the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety .
