Harry DiVito , also Harry DeVito ( 1924 - February 12, 2006 ), was an American jazz trombonist .

DiVito played from the mid-1940s and in the following decade in the big bands and jazz ensembles of Ziggy Elman , Jerry Gray , Tommy Reynolds , Isham Jones , Les Brown , Harry James , Sam Donahue (1946), Charlie Spivak (“Star Dreams "1947), Stan Kenton (1948), Gene Krupa and Pee Wee Erwin . In 1955 he appeared with Charlie Barnet on the Paul Whiteman Show, in 1956 he played with Benny Goodman ("Fascinating Rhythm") and by the end of the decade with Dick Wellstood , with Dick Cary and The Dixieland Doodlers, and Phil Napoleon / Kenny Davern .

From the 1960s onwards, DiVito was mainly active as a session musician, heard on recordings by Lucky Millinder ("Teardrops from My Eyes"), Wynonie Harris ("Oh Babe!"), Urbie Green ( 21 Trombones , 1968), Doc Severinsen , Hugo Montenegro , Chico O'Farrill , George Dale Williams , Grant Green ( Shades of Green , 1972), Bo Diddley , Sonny Stitt , Harry Chapin ( Dance Band on the Titanic , 1977), Eddie Kendricks and most recently with Dick Meldonian (“ Digeridoo ", 1992). In the field of jazz, Tom Lord lists him in 117 recording sessions between 1942 and 1988.
