Hachidai Nakamura

Hachidai Nakamura ( Japanese 中 村 八大 , Nakamura Hachidai ; born January 20, 1931 in Qingdao , † June 10, 1992 in Tokyo ) was a Japanese jazz musician ( piano ) and songwriter .

Hachidai Nakamura, who was born in China to Japanese parents, grew up in Kurume and, after studying at Waseda University, worked in the Japanese jazz scene from the 1950s with Hidehiko Matsumoto and Hachiro Ando in the band Six Joes , with the first Recordings for Victor were made ("Brokenhearted Pigeon"). In the following years he played a. a. with Oshio Oida ; In 1956 he was one of the Swing Journal assembled All-Stars band of (with Fumio Matsumoto , Akira Fukuhara , Koichi Kawabe , Keiichiro Ebihara , Sadao Watanabe , Akira Miyazawa , Konosuke Saijo ). In later years Nakamura wrote a number of songs for various Japanese singers such as Kyu Sakamoto , Saburō Kitajima and the group Johnnys . He worked with the songwriter Rokusuke Ei (1933-2016), whose songs were presented by Kyu Sakamoto. The song Ue o muite arukō , which appeared in Japan in 1961, was under the title Sukiyaki in 1963 in the United States a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and also took second place in the German charts. His songs Aki no Irokusa , Kon 'nichi wa akachan , Hitoribotchi no futari daga , Tasogare no begin and, not least, Ue o muite arukō were also used in numerous Japanese films and TV series from 1962 onwards.
