Hans-Jürgen Wende

Hans-Jürgen "Bubi" Wende (born March 5, 1926 in Magdeburg ; † November 4, 2012 ) was a German handball player .

Life

Wende began playing handball at Komet Lemsdorf in 1942 . The center forward was the captain of the GDR national field handball team from 1952 to 1959. He scored the first four goals of a GDR handball selection in the premiere match of the field handball selection against Hungary on May 29, 1950 in East Berlin (final score 5: 5, another goal scorer Weidner). He celebrated his greatest success in 1959 when he was captain of the all-German team in Vienna and won field handball world championships. In the club he played for SC Aufbau Magdeburg, from which SC Magdeburg later emerged. He ended his career in 1959.

1959 Wende was honored with the GDR national team as team of the year . He also received the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
