Hans-Joachim Spremberg

Hans-Joachim Spremberg (born December 8, 1943 in Berlin , † March 6, 1978 at Wadi Suf al-Jin in Libya in a helicopter crash) was a German photo reporter for the General German Intelligence Service (ADN), the GDR's news agency . In the author of his photos, he was also named as Joachim Spremberg .

Life

After graduating from school, Hans-Joachim Spremberg initially trained as a skilled film copier in order to later become a photo reporter. He succeeded in doing this when he started at ADN-Zentralbild, the image department of the GDR news agency ADN, in 1964, "where, after resolute further training in political and photojournalism, he soon reported on significant events with the camera" (text of the obituary in the daily newspaper Neues Deutschland ). He documented u. a. everyday life in East Berlin, the construction of the Berlin television tower , and was deployed on important state occasions with GDR party and state leader Walter Ulbricht .

In 1969 he became a member of the SED . During his reporter career he received a. a. the medal of merit of the GDR , labor banner and medal of merit of the NVA .

In March 1978 he accompanied the GDR party functionary Werner Lamberz on his trip to Africa. During a state visit to Libya , the helicopter with four GDR citizens (Werner Lamberz, Paul Markowski , Hans-Joachim Spremberg and the interpreter Armin Ernst) crashed, none of the occupants survived.

Hans-Joachim Spremberg is buried in the central cemetery in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde .
