Hans-Michael Bender

Hans-Michael Bender (born June 21, 1943 in Nonnenweier / Lahr) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Bender was born as the 10th and youngest child of the future regional bishop Julius Bender . After graduating from high school in Karlsruhe , Bender studied law and economics in Freiburg and Munich and passed the second state examination in 1970. From 1971 he was employed by IWKA . In 1979 he became an independent lawyer in Karlsruhe. Bender is married and has three children.

Bender followed the political commitment of his brother Traugott Bender and was a member of the Karlsruhe municipal council from 1989 to 1996 . In 1992 he was elected chairman of the local CDU district association. From 1996 to 2001 he was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg , where he represented the Karlsruhe II constituency. In 2001 and 2006 he was elected chairman of the G10 commission in the state parliament. Since 2007 Bender has been the deputy federal chairman of the Evangelical Working Group of the CDU / CSU.
