Hans-Peter Glanzer

Hans-Peter Glanzer (born August 17, 1960 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian diplomat . Since November 2017 he has been head of mission at the Austrian embassy in Syria . He was the Austrian ambassador to Colombia from 2004 to 2008 and ambassador to Brazil from 2008 to 2012 .

Life

Hans-Peter Glanzer received his doctorate in 1983 from the Faculty of Law at the University of Innsbruck . From 1984 to 1986 he attended the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna .

Diplomatic career

From 1989 to 1993 he worked in the Austrian Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs (BMeiA), then until 1996 as the second embassy secretary at the Austrian embassy in Prague . His next assignment was in the permanent representation of Austria to the United Nations in New York , there mainly in the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations  (ECOSOC). From 1999 to 2004 he worked at the OSCE department of the Austrian Foreign Ministry (BMeiA).

Hans-Peter Glanzer had his first accreditation as ambassador from 2004 to 2008 as the Austrian ambassador in Bogotá , Colombia, with additional responsibility for Ecuador and Panama . From November 2008 to August 2012 he was ambassador to Brasília , with additional responsibility for Suriname . He then returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the head of the Humanitarian Aid Department. Since November 2017 he has succeeded Isabel Rauscher as head of mission at the Austrian embassy in Damascus in Syria.
