Isabel Rauscher
Isabel Rauscher (born December 29, 1959 ) is an Austrian diplomat . She was the Austrian ambassador to Syria from 2013 to 2017 and has been the Austrian ambassador to Romania since 2017 .
Isabel Rauscher attended the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna from 1986 to 1988 . In 1989 she joined the Austrian Foreign Ministry . In 1990 she worked in the Permanent Mission of Austria to the United Nations , and from 1991 to 1995 in the Austrian Embassy in Warsaw . From 1995 to 1998 she was first assigned to the embassy in Prague , from 1998 to 2001 head of the Central Europe department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vienna . Her next assignment abroad was from 2001 to 2008 as an envoy at the embassy in London , after which she returned to the State Department and from 2008 to 2012 was Head of the Department for America, the Caribbean and the Organization of American States (OAS).
From January 2013 to 2017 she was the Austrian ambassador to Damascus as the successor to Maria Kunz , and since November 2017 Rauscher has been the Austrian ambassador to Bucharest as the successor to Gerhard Reiweger .
