Hans-Peter König

Hans-Peter König (born 20th century ) is a German opera singer with a bass voice .

Life

Hans-Peter König studied singing at the Musikhochschule Dortmund and took lessons from Gladys Kuchta in Düsseldorf . This was followed by practical training at the International Opera Studio of the Zurich Opera House. First engagements took him to various German opera houses, including the State Theater in Hanover. Further stations in Germany were Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden and Munich. He has been a member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf ensemble since the 2001/2002 season. In 2009 he received the honorary title of chamber singer there .

König was best known as a Wagner singer, he embodied numerous bass parts in Wagner operas such as Gurnemanz in Parsifal , King Heinrich in Lohengrin or Daland in The Flying Dutchman . From 2006 to 2009 he performed as Hagen in the Ring des Nibelungen at the Bayreuth Festival . Other successful roles are Sarastro in Mozart's Magic Flute and Philip II in Don Carlos von Verdi . Since 2006, König has also been on stage at international theaters. An engagement at La Scala in Milan was followed by appearances at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden and the Metropolitan Opera in New York , there again as Hagen .

After 2010 he appeared in Wagner roles in Spain at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and France at the Opéra Bastille . International engagements also took him to Stockholm, Helsinki, Taipei, Tokyo and São Paolo.
