Hans-Volker Mixsa

Hans-Volker Mixsa (* 1944 in Meiningen ; † August 29, 2016 in Dresden ) was a German sculptor.

Hans-Volker Mixsa trained as a toolmaker from 1960 to 1963 . In 1962 he moved to Dresden . He finished his training and then got a job with the art blacksmith Karl Bergmann. During this time he became acquainted with the sculptor Friedrich Press . Since 1965 he worked as a freelancer.

From 1965 to 1967 Mixsa completed an evening course in the Dresden University of Fine Arts with Professor Walter Arnold in the field of plastic . He completed his studies with the master's examination. Since 1988/89 the sculptor has worked with the “Bureau for Architecture-Related Art” in Dresden, and since 1990 with the Dresden painter and graphic artist Michael Hofmann .

Mixsa has been creating various steel objects in public spaces since 1992. These included light objects for the church in Husby , the installation of a steel spiral in the “New Trade Fair” in Düsseldorf , a 12 m high steel sculpture in Bonn , the Düsseldorf spiral in Altena and several sculptures in Dresden and Hamburg.

Mixsa received several awards for his work. He showed more than 20 solo exhibitions, he was also involved in numerous exhibitions.

The sculptor was a member of the German Association of Artists .
