Hans Albrecht Freiherr von Rechenberg (born October 22, 1892 in Neurode , † January 19, 1953 in Cologne ) was a German politician of the FDP .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Rechenberg studied philosophy and chemistry . After 1918 he worked as an employee of a chemical company. In 1927 he took over the position of director of a machine factory near Cologne, which he later became owner.

After 1945 Freiherr von Rechenberg was a member of the Cologne Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was elected to the board of the Cologne Metalworking Employers' Association.

Political activity

Rechenberg founded a democratic group in Cologne, which later became part of the FDP. From 1947 he was deputy chairman of the FDP in North Rhine-Westphalia and was elected for the FDP in the German Bundestag in 1949, to which he belonged until his death.

A legal dispute so far unique in the history of the Bundestag arose over the successor to the mandate, at the end of which the mandate was revoked from the successor Paul Hans Jaeger , but this had no more practical effect as the legislative period had now come to an end.

From 1950 to 1953 Freiherr von Rechenberg was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe .
