Hans Altmann (lawyer)

Hans Georg Altmann (born October 2, 1897 in Berlin ; † May 27, 1981 there ) was a German lawyer .

Hans Georg Altmann grew up in Berlin-Lichterfelde as the son of the lawyer and high official of the Prussian Ministry of Culture Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Altmann (1861-1918) and his wife Antonie nee. Leonhard (1872–1920). He married Ingeborg geb. Nonnemann (1905–1944), she has 2 sons (Klaus and Dietrich) and a daughter (Christine). Margaret Altmann was born the younger sister of Hans Georg and they share great-grandparents with Ulrich and Berthold Altmann .

Career

Altmann first completed a banking apprenticeship. The subsequent activity as a banker served to finance his later law studies, as his parents had died early. He had to experience the First World War from 1915 to 1920 as a soldier and officer. After graduating, he joined the Berlin judicial service as an assessor . Since his paternal grandmother and maternal grandfather were of Jewish descent, he was dismissed as a district judge in 1935, worked as a bank clerk again and was reinstated in the judiciary in 1945. From 1949 he was a senior judge at the superior court .

Since 1945 he was the eldest of the Protestant parish Berlin-Lichterfelde for almost 30 years , from 1949 a member of the provincial synod of the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg and since 1952 a member of the church leadership. In this function he was sent to the EKD Synod in 1954 . From the beginning of 1962 to 1973 he was President of the Regional Synod in Berlin (West).
