Hans Arnold (born October 8, 1941 in Mannheim ; † May 8, 1991 ) was a German football player .

career

Amateur and Oberliga, until 1963

He grew up playing football at VfL Neckarau and began his high-class career at VfR Mannheim in the 1960/61 season in the Oberliga Süd football league . On the first game day, August 14, 1960, he made his debut in the highest southern German league in the attack of the lawn athletes in the 1: 2 defeat against 1. FC Nuremberg . Coach Philipp Rohr used the dangerous half-forward in 20 games and the ex-amateur scored 17 goals. Only center forward Rudolf Bast could beat his result by one goal. National coach Sepp Herberger used Mannheim's talent on May 13, 1961 in Waterschei in the game of the German junior national team U 23 against Belgium. Arnold had his second use on September 20, 1961 in Odense against Denmark, where he formed the German runner row in the 1-0 victory with Otto Luttrop and Ingo Porges . From 1960 to 1963 Arnold completed 76 league games for VfR and scored 37 goals alongside goalkeeper Hans Benzler and center runner Hans-Jürgen Wäckerle . But since the placements - also in the last league year 1962/63 under coach Helmut Kronsbein , VfR Mannheim only came in 12th - were not enough for a nomination for the new Bundesliga, he moved to VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga in 1963 .

Bundesliga, 1963 to 1971

From 1963 to 1971 he played 204 Bundesliga games for the Swabians and scored 9 goals. Fifth place twice in 1964 and 1969 was the best result. In eight rounds at VfB, he experienced six coaches: Kurt Baluses , Rudi Gutendorf , Albert Sing , Gunther Baumann , Franz Seybold and Branko Zebec .

Arnold was involved in the Bundesliga scandal in 1971 . He and his teammates Hans Eisele and Hartmut Weiß got paid for VfB losing 1-0 in Bielefeld. After his lifelong ban, he became a trainer for Sportfreunde Stuttgart . In 1972 he became the coach of VfR Aalen . He appointed Franz Seybold , who once coached Arnold himself at VfB, to be his assistant coach . Under the direction of the Arnold / Seybold team, the VfR won second place in the amateur league North Württemberg in the 1972/73 season with a goal difference of 61:29 .

After his lifelong ban was converted into a two-year period, he joined SpVgg 07 Ludwigsburg .

After the playing career

From 1972 to 1973 he was a coach at VfR Aalen . In 1978 he returned to VfB Stuttgart as an assistant coach and replaced assistant coach Norbert Wagner, who was moving to Freiburg. Later he got involved in the youth field and led the A-youth of the white-reds in 1981 to the German Youth Championship .
