Hans Bauer (writer)

Friedrich Alban Hans Bauer (born May 6, 1894 in Altenburg ; † January 1, 1982 in Leipzig ) was a German writer and journalist .

Life

He was the son of the landowner Albert Bauer and his wife Martha nee Dostal and of Protestant denomination. After attending grammar school in Altenburg, he attended lectures at Leipzig University . From 1916 to 1918, Hans Bauer took an active part in the First World War. Back home, he worked as a freelance writer. He wrote mostly popular science non-fiction books, he also wrote for the Schaubühne and the Weltbühne, among others .

In the meantime he worked from 1921 to 1925 as editor of the magazine Der Drache in Leipzig. After the Second World War he became an editor at the Leipziger Volkszeitung . In addition, Hans Bauer worked as a lecturer at the adult education center in Leipzig.

In 1925 Hans Bauer married Martha nee Noack. The daughters Käthe and Ruth emerged from their marriage.
