Hans Bechly
Hans GW Bechly (born November 20, 1871 in Neubrandenburg , Mecklenburg-Strelitz , † 1954 ) was a German trade unionist. From 1911 to 1933 he was head of the German National Handicrafts Association (DHV).
Career
Bechly came as the son of the businessman Adolf Bechly and Anna Bechly, geb. Gragow, to the world. He attended grammar school up to Obersekunda and completed a commercial apprenticeship with JP Schomann in Rostock between 1889 and 1893. After his military service in the Queen Elisabeth Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 3 in Charlottenburg, he worked in various positions as an assistant in the iron industry from May 1894 to July 1900.
At the same time, he took on the position of shop steward and district head of the German National Trade Aid Association on a voluntary basis. From July 1, 1900, he worked full-time for the association. In 1901 he became a member of the administration and in 1904 Gauvorsteher for Berlin-Brandenburg. The election as deputy head of the association in 1908 was followed by the election to the head of the association in 1911.
In addition, Bechly was 2nd chairman of the German Trade Union Federation (DGB), chairman of the general association of German white-collar unions (Gedag), chairman of the supervisory board of the non-profit company for salaried employees' homes (GAGFAH) and chairman of the supervisory board of the German national insurance ring .
After 1945 he was among the first to set up the German Employees' Union (DAG) together with Wilhelm Dörr .
