Hans Brehme

Hans Brehme (born March 10, 1904 in Potsdam , † November 10, 1957 in Stuttgart ) was a German composer .

Brehme studied piano and composition at the Berlin University of Music from 1922 to 1928 . From 1928 he was a piano teacher at the Stuttgart University of Music . After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists , he had been a member of the NSDAP since May 1933 and composed music for the stadium play of the national revolution . From 1936 he was a composition teacher at the Stuttgart University of Music . In 1940 Brehme was appointed professor in Stuttgart . In 1941 his opera The Clockmaker of Strasbourg premiered.

From 1945 to 1949 he taught as a professor at the University Institute for Music Education in Trossingen before returning to the Stuttgart University of Music in 1950.
