Hans Brodmerkel

Hans Brodmerkel (born March 29, 1887 in Burgebrach , Upper Franconia, † February 2, 1932 in Bremen ) was a German politician . He was a co-founder of the KPD , chairman of the workers 'and soldiers' council in the Bremen Council Republic and a member of the Bremen citizenship .

biography

Brodmerkel moved to Bremen in 1911 and became an independent butcher . From 1912 he was a member of the Gauvorstand of the Central Association of Butchers in Bremen. Before 1914 he was a member of the SPD and during the First World War chairman of the Bremen administrative office of the butchers' association. As a co-founder of the “ Arbeiterpolitik ” group and a functionary of the Bremen radical left , he was briefly imprisoned in June 1916 for distributing illegal pamphlets. Brodmerkel was a delegate of the Bremen Left Radicals at the USPD founding party congress in Gotha in April 1917 . He was a member of the commission for the establishment of a left-wing radical party in Berlin in July / August 1917 and in 1918 became a member of the International Communists of Germany . He was a delegate at the founding party convention of the KPD (December 30, 1918 - January 1, 1919) in Berlin.

After the November Revolution, Brodmerkel was initially second chairman of the action committee and, from 1919, chairman of the workers 'and soldiers' council in the Bremen soviet republic. In 1923 he was elected as a member of the Bremen citizenship for the KPD . After Eugen Eppstein was appointed by the ultra-left in the KPD party headquarters as the new district leader in May 1924 , violent clashes broke out in the Bremen KPD. At the beginning of 1925 Brodmerkel was excluded from the KPD together with Adolf Ehlers and Wilhelm Deisen as a “right wing”, but at the end of 1925 he was re-admitted to the KPD. After being expelled again in 1929, Brodmerkel joined the KPO .
