Hans Buiting

Hans Buiting (born March 7, 1961 ) is a former Dutch judoka . He was third in the European Championship in 1989.

Career

Hans Buiting fought in the heavyweight or open class. In 1987 and 1989 he was the Dutch heavyweight champion.

At the European Championships in 1987 he was eliminated early in the heavyweight division against the German Alexander von der Groeben . In the open class he reached the semi-finals and was defeated by the French Christian Vachon , then he also lost in the battle for a bronze medal. Six months later, at the 1987 World Championships , he finished seventh in the heavyweight division.

In 1989 Buiting was defeated at the European Championships in Helsinki in the quarterfinals of heavyweight Thomas Müller from the GDR. After two wins in the Hope Round, Buiting also won the battle for bronze against the Austrian Josef Schmöller . Five months later, like two years earlier, he finished seventh at the 1989 World Championships . At the European Championships in 1990 , Buiting lost in the quarter-finals against Jochen Plate from Germany and in the battle for bronze against Frank Möller from the GDR . Two years later, Buiting achieved fifth place in the open class at the 1992 European Championships .
