Hans Butz

Hans Butz (born June 15, 1890 in Mannheim , † December 30, 1970 in Hanover ) was a German animal breeding scientist.

Life

Hans Butz studied veterinary medicine at the veterinary universities in Munich and Berlin as well as agriculture. In 1908 he became a member of the Corps Vandalia Munich. After completing his studies with a license to practice medicine and a doctorate to become a Dr. phil. in Berlin in 1914 he became a research assistant at the Veterinary University in Berlin . In 1919 he moved to the animal breeding institute of the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover as a senior assistant . In 1924 he accepted a position in industry. In 1927 he switched to the slaughterhouse in Heidelberg as senior veterinarian . In 1929 he accepted a position as a full professor for animal breeding and genetic research at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover. In 1960 he retired.

Butz worked on horse breeding , constitutional issues in large pets, and twin research.
