Hans Claar

Hans Claar , actually Johann Klapper ( September 10, 1861 in Vienna - June 6, 1918 in Gmunden ) was an Austrian theater actor , director and director .

Life

Claar, the son of an Austrian civil servant, also entered the civil service first, but decided in 1887 to take up the stage profession without any dramatic training. He began on very small stages ("Chevalier Dumont" was his very first role), came to Troppau in 1889 , worked in Bielitz and Franzensbad from 1890 to 1893 , at the German Volkstheater in Vienna in 1894, in Salzburg , Karlsbad , Ischl from 1894 to 1897 , and in 1898 joined the Association of the State Theater in Linz, where he made his debut as "Martens" in Jugendfreunde .

He stayed in Linz until 1902, said goodbye on April 30th as “Peter” in the Golden Eve , to an ovation that had hardly been seen in Linz, and in September joined the Association of the Hofburgtheater.

From 1906 until his death he was the artistic director of the Linz State Theater. He was buried in the Jewish cemetery St. Barbara cemetery in Linz.

He was married to the opera singer Toni Claar-Eibenschütz .
