Hans Fünfschilling

Hans Fünfschilling (born January 19, 1940 in Basel ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

Life

Fünfschilling graduated from the Gymnasium am Münsterplatz in Basel Matur and then studied at the University of Basel biology and mathematics (diploma) and Astrophysics (PhD). During his studies he also worked as a teacher. He later became head of IT at Roche in Basel.

Fünfschilling had his first political experience at the community level as president of the Binningen / Bottmingen school administration . In September 1976, Fünfschilling was elected to the district administrator. In July 1987 he was elected to the government council, where he was initially director of education for two years and later finance director until June 2000.

On December 6, 1999, Fünfschilling was elected to the Council of States in the national parliamentary elections , where he was a member of the Finance Commission, the Security Commission, the Transport and Telecommunications Commission and the OSCE delegation. In 2007 he resigned from this office.

Fünfschilling is also the committee chairman of the European Youth Choir Festival (EJCF) , president of SRG SSR idée suisse German-speaking Switzerland and a board member of Endress + Hauser and Arpida AG .

He is married and has two children.
