Hans Galinsky

Hans Karl Galinsky (born May 12, 1909 in Breslau ; † July 25, 1991 in Mainz ) was a German Americanist.

Life

Hans Galinsky studied German, English, history and philosophy at the University of Breslau , University of Heidelberg and King's College London from 1927 to 1932 . After graduation he was on 17 February 1932 in Breslau and the first state examination on July 9th, 1932 ibid lecturer , University of London for German (1933-1934) at the University of Manchester (1934-1935) and at the Friedrich-Wilhelms University of Berlin (1935–1939). After his habilitation in Berlin in 1938 , he taught from 1942 to 1945 as a full professor at the University of Strasbourg . After the second state examination on October 5, 1950 in Tübingen , he was a lecturer at the University of Tübingen from 1950 to 1952 . From 1952 to 1953 he taught as an associate professor in Mainz . From 1953 until his retirement in 1977, Karl Galinsky's father was a full professor for comparative literature and American studies at the University of Mainz .
