Hans Glissmeyer

Hans Glißmeyer (born June 20, 1936 in Wethau ; † July 6, 2008 in Berlin ) was a German civil engineer and traffic planner . From 1983 to 1989 he was rector of the University of Architecture and Building in Weimar (HAB).

Life

After graduating from high school, Glißmeyer studied at the Dresden University of Transport and became a qualified engineer in 1959. He received his doctorate in 1965 and was qualified to teach road traffic technology in 1971. In the same year he became secretary of the Research Council of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) and was at times a member of various ministerial working and research groups.

In 1972 Glißmeyer was appointed full professor for transport planning at the University of Architecture and Building in Weimar (HAB), where he became vice-rector in 1977 and rector in 1983. From 1985 to 1989 he was a candidate member of the GDR Building Academy .

After the turning point and the peaceful revolution in the GDR , a considerable restructuring of the HAB began in 1989 and Glißmeyer lost his position as rector. In 1991 he left the university.

In the 1990s Glißmeyer took part in general transport planning projects in Berlin and was involved in various positions in transport development planning in the new federal states.
