Hans Gnant

Hans Gnant (* 1920 in Vienna ; † 2000 in Altmünster , Upper Austria ) was an Austrian poet of theater plays , especially comedies .

biography

Hans Gnant was born in Neustift am Walde , Vienna, in 1920 . After school he learned the trade of baker . He was drafted as a soldier at the beginning of World War II . His first comedies, rural comedies, were written in the English prisoner-of-war camp in 1946 and were also performed in the camp theater.

After returning from captivity, Gnant initially worked in the profession he had learned. In the 1950s he founded the Traunseer Volksbühne, which he ran with Fritz Edtmeier.

After working as a material warehouse manager in industry, he moved to a beverage company in 1960. As a sales manager, he went in 1980 in pension .

Plays by Hans Gnant have been translated into Dutch , Danish , Low German and Swiss German. In addition to a large number of amateur theaters and theater associations, his plays have also been performed by professional theaters such as the Löwinger-Bühne , the Chiemgauer Volkstheater and the Kleiner Theater Ismaning.
