Hans Olof Clemens Granfelt (born October 26, 1897 in Stockholm ; † September 5, 1963 there ) was a Swedish sword fencer and discus thrower .
successes
Hans Granfelt took part in the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 in the discus throw , in which he failed without a valid distance in the qualification. At the opening ceremony of the Games he was the flag bearer of the Swedish delegation. In 1931 in Vienna and 1937 in Paris , he won the bronze medal at the world championships with the Degen team . At the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 , Granfelt competed in fencing. Together with Birger Cederin , Hans Drakenberg , Gustaf Dyrssen , Gustav Almgren and Sven Thofelt , he reached the final round in the team competition, which the Swedish team finished in silver behind Italy and ahead of France and Germany . In the individual competition he was eliminated in the semifinals. At national level, Granfelt won the Swedish championship eight times with the saber and twice with the sword.
His brothers Nils and Erik Granfelt both also took part in the Olympic Games, both were gymnasts. Erik was also active in the tug of war. His nephew Nils Rydström was also an Olympian. Rydström fought at the Olympic tournaments in 1948 and 1952 .
