Hans Julius Anton Eduard Hübner , baptized Johannes (born October 13, 1837 in Düsseldorf , † July 13, 1884 in Göttingen ), was a German chemist .

Live and act

Hans Huebner was the son of the painter Julius Huebner (1806–1882) and his wife Pauline (née Bendemann) (1809–1895). His siblings included the classical philologist Emil Huebner and the painter and sculptor Eduard Huebner .

After attending the Vitzthum-Gymnasium , Hübner studied at the University of Göttingen , where he received his doctorate with Anton Geuther in 1859 with his thesis “About Acrolein” . He completed his habilitation in 1863 and initially worked as a private lecturer in Göttingen. In 1870 he was appointed associate professor and in 1874 full professor. In the same year he became co-director of the general chemical laboratory at Friedrich Wöhler , from 1884 until his death sole director.
