Hans Hartmann (Judoka)

Hans Hartmann (born July 28, 1905 in Frankfurt am Main , † April 24, 2002 in Ennetbaden ) was a Swiss judo pioneer .

Professional career

He went through schools in Frankfurt until his parents moved to Basel . He completed a degree in mechanical engineering at the ETH Zurich . He then worked for Brown, Boveri & Cie until he retired in 1970 . employed. There he rose to head the instrument transformer department.

Judo

In 1927, the South Korean student Hanho Rhi began to teach the still unknown sport of judo and aroused the interest of Hans Hartmann. This was compulsory active duty in the Second World War and completed the military preliminary lessons , which also included judo. In 1929, the Jiu-Jitsu and Judo Club Zurich was the first judo club in Switzerland. Hans Hartmann trained there and became an honorary member. In 1949 he founded the Jiu-Jitsu and Judo Club Baden , which was later renamed the Judo Club Baden- Wettingen (JCBW) . In 1952, the incumbent president of the JCBW passed his first Dan exam in Paris and was thus awarded the first master's degree. 1957 followed the 1st dan in karate .
