Hans Hege (born June 14, 1946 in Schwäbisch Hall ) is a German lawyer and long-time director of the Berlin-Brandenburg media authority .

Life

Hege studied law in Tübingen and Berlin from 1967 to 1972 and completed the legal preparatory service from 1973 to 1975. After his legal clerkship from 1976 to 1977 he worked as an assistant in the Berlin House of Representatives and from 1978 to 1983 as a consultant in the Senate Department for Justice of the State of Berlin. From 1983 to 1985 he was head of the media department at the Senator for Cultural Affairs in Berlin and in 1985 became the first director of the cable communication institute , whose task was the approval and development of cable television first, then also private radio and television via terrestrial frequencies, and This remained until 1992. In 1985, Hege was one of the founders of the conference of directors of the state media authorities , which developed coordinated positions on national television issues. From 1988 to 1992 he was chairman of the youth protection working group of the directors' conference of the state media authorities and was director of the media authority Berlin-Brandenburg from 1992 to 2016. This was founded after German unification in 1992 and was the first joint institution between two countries. Hege became its first director and was responsible for reorganizing the frequencies and private broadcasting in the region. After the media council - after several attempts - was able to agree on his successor, he retired in March 2016.

From 1993 to 1995 he chaired the directors' conference of the state media authorities. As part of the cooperation between the state media authorities, Hege initially took on responsibility for the protection of minors, after which he became chairman of the DLM in 1993. At that time, it was particularly about the development of media concentration law. From 1995 to 2000 Hans Hege was chairman of the Digital Video Broadcasting working group of the directors 'conference of the state media authorities and from 1999 to 2000 chairman of the working group for digital access of the directors' conference of the state media authorities. Until August 2008 he was chairman of the joint office for digital access of the directors' conference of the state media authorities and has been the ZAK commissioner for platform regulation and digital access and member of the commission to determine concentration in the media sector (KEK) since September 1, 2008 .

As an independent expert, Hege is a member of the Federal Media Commission of the FDP.
